![]() Loptr, the Masked Lumen and Alraune, the main threats, are shown right from the start, and in the case of the first two, you learn more about them as the game progresses. I guess this is intentional, to keep the player as clueless as Bayonetta is about her past, but it really does the game’s story a disservice because I found that going back through Bayo 1 I was able to appreciate the story a lot more now that I know what it was, as some cutscenes were just put in with no context.Even then I still get confused a bit.Bayo 2 does this a lot better, although I guess it cheats because it’s a sequel so the player already knows a lot. ![]() I pretty much agree with everything you said, however I think Bayo 2 should get some credit for the things it does right. For one, in Bayo 1 it’s hard to know what the fuck is going on until Balder dumps all of that 20 minutes exposition on you. Balder is a dull antagonist who doesn't give her an opportunity to showcase her wit, she has next to no dialogue with Luka or Rosa, and her relationship with Loki is muddled because Loki's personality is all over the place. So yeah, if you're thinking from a story / tone perspective, I'd absolutely say that Bayo1 is more coherent / cohesive than its sequel. She introduces her personality early on, and Jeanne / Cereza / Luka expand on different facets of that personality. ![]()
